Legal Aid - Estate Planning Clinic
Yesterday evening I attended the Legal Aid clinic for estate planning at Casa De Amigos here in Midland. It was great seeing everyone with Legal Aid and visiting with clients. I assist these clients pro bono with and help them get their estate planning documents in place. I always really enjoy these Legal Aid clinics. Mostly because I get to converse with clients I might not normally talk to in my day-to-day practice, and I get to learn more about everyone’s life stories (which is always impressive and humbling at the same time). It’s a great feeling to provide a service to people who really need help, but simply can’t afford a normal legal fee. Every attorney is taught the importance of pro bono work in law school, but in practice it does not happen nearly as often as it should (speaking about myself here). I have committed to doing at least four legal clinics this year, and the very first one was a great success and a lot of fun. I look forward to the next one and helping out more folks in my local community!
